Kitchen - HenryBuilt

It’s Christmas time in May!  The Henrybuilt cabinets were delivered yesterday -- we met the truck and couldn’t wait to see everything.  All the cabinets arrived triple wrapped and undamaged - as far as we could tell.

What fun!  Eric and Mark worked on the installation of the cabinets today and made some great headway.  Another day on the island, and it will nearly be complete (with the exception of the countertops).

The quality of these cabinets is amazing. This was not really a surprise because we had been to the showroom and checked them out.   HenryBuilt’s attention to detail is top notch.  From the precision of the joinery to the quality of the plywood panels, it all has a very solid and beautiful feel. We are very happy with how the kitchen is turning out!

How do you like the Henrybuilt cabinets now that you have used them? I have always been curious about the quality (they look great) and also the pricepoint. How would you compare their pricing to other cabinet manufacturers?

Nancy

We love the HB cabinets. Other brands we considered and priced out were Ikea, Berloni, Bulthaup, and a local custom shop. We designed the layout of the kitchen so we could compare apples to apples. Of course, all of these are very different price points. HB fell somewhere between Berloni and Bulthaup. We visited all the showrooms so we knew the quality of all of them. We wanted exposed plywood edges with laminate fronts, which we couldn’t find anywhere else, and also wanted the cabinets to have a modern but understated look. We couldn’t afford Bulthaup, although those systems are incredibly beautiful. Berloni was a little too slick looking for what we were looking for in this house. Our personal experience with Ikea is that they are fine for minimal use, but not durable enough with young kids. I went to a custom shop and they couldn’t match the look we were going for, so we weren’t going to be satisfied.

So having said all that, HB (based in Seattle) produces and pre-assembles all the cabinets in their own shop, had the aesthetic that we desired, and were very knowledgeable about their product -- so it seemed like the best fit all around. Although we designed the kitchen, HB provided excellent design services and helped us to resolve issues/questions quickly. They also provided very thorough drawings and installation guides. I don’t think it always comes down to price, but if you are looking for a high quality line – US-made—I would highly recommend them. I can’t say enough great things about them. If you are local and considering using them you are welcome to come check our kitchen out.

Beautiful cabinets. What color HPL did you select - is that Gunmetal Gray?

Denver_Modern

*Thanks. We love the cabinets. And, yes, we used the gunmetal for the tall
cabs and white for the others.
